Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy is a challenging roguelite RPG, with a table-top ‘feel’, a node-based open world and cool twist on permadeath. Its award winning technology produces incredible procedurally generated environments for players to discover, filled with procedurally placed monsters, characters and treasures.
As assistant game designer, I had the pleasure of working with the game director to create additional levels and encounters in the form of generation templates. During this process, we would often find opportunities for all kinds of improvements to the system. This allowed us to expand the core system with new rules and structures. In addition, I would often playtest the game to better understand its core loops and pacing, allowing me to suggest changes that would bring the overall experience closer to the game director’s vision.
Working with so much content and complex pipelines, I felt right at home. The fact that Unexplored 2 is a fantasy rpg, one of my favorite genres, was the icing on the cake.
